On October 3, 9 students from Bluffs High School attended the Youth Advisory Council hosted by State Senator Steve McClure. Students were given question and answer sessions with numerous figures, including Springfield Mayor, Jim Langfelder. Afterwards students worked in their groups to come up with policy issues that are important to them. The groups then presented their “bills” to all in attendance and had to answer questions and defend their positions. The bills were then voted on in caucus style, and the bill that won will be debated in a mock committee at the State Capital Building in the spring.
