December 14, 2011
The Board of Education of Community Unit School District #2 of Scott and Morgan Counties met in Regular Session Wednesday, December 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Superintendent’s Office at Bluffs School.
President, Mark Vortman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm with the following members answering roll call: Mark Vortman, Linda Sapp, DeWayne Hart, Roger Barnett, and Gary Westermeyer. Ed Little and Kelle Reid were absent.
Chris Himmel, Jesse Miller, Brooke DeFrates, and Jessical Hearold were present to discuss test waivers.
Mr. Stremlau shared the highlights of the Bluffs-Meredosia Coop Meeting, the West Central Coop meeting and the PERA Joint committee meeting.
Mrs. Filson shared the Principal’s report which included enrollment, discipline, mentoring professional development and school wide discipline survey.
Linda Sapp made the motion to approve the consent agenda of approving the minutes of the previous meetings, monthly bills, financial reports, payroll and the first reading of the West Central Athletic & Extra Curricular Cooperative intergovernmental agreement. DeWayne Hart seconded the motion Yea: Mark Vortman, Linda Sapp, DeWayne Hart, Roger Barnett, and Gary Westermeyer. Nay: none Motion carried.
Superintendent Stremlau updated the Board on the Bluffs-Meredosia Coop meeting, the West Central Coop meeting, and the Joint Committee meeting. He attended the Superintendent’s meeting on November 22 in Jacksonville and the legal forum conducted by Rammelkamp and Bradney regarding SB 7 and SB 315.
Roger Barnett made the motion to approve the proposed tax levy for 2012. Linda Sapp seconded the motion. Yea: Mark Vortman, Linda Sapp, DeWayne Hart, Roger Barnett, and Gary Westermeyer. Nay: none Motion carried.
Linda Sapp made the motion to approve the land lease agreement with Royal Oakes LLC from December 1, 2011 to November 30, 2014 at an annual rate of $500 for land rental. DeWayne Hart seconded the motion. Yea: Mark Vortman, Linda Sapp, DeWayne Hart, Roger Barnett, and Gary Westermeyer. Nay: none Motion carried.
DeWayne Hart made the motion to approve the hiring of Travis Loeschen as high school science teacher for the remainder of the 2011-2012 school year. Gary Westermeyer seconded the motion. Yea: Mark Vortman, Linda Sapp, DeWayne Hart, Roger Barnett, and Gary Westermeyer. Nay: none Motion carried.
DeWayne Hart made the motion to approve employment of Jody Clanton as bus driver for Scott-Morgan School District #2. Linda Sapp seconded the motion. Yea: Mark Vortman, Linda Sapp, DeWayne Hart, Roger Barnett, and Gary Westermeyer. Nay: none Motion carried.
Mark Vortman made the motion to approve Amy Griffitts as West Central volleyball coach for the 2012 season. Roger Barnett seconded the motion. Yea: Mark Vortman, Linda Sapp, DeWayne Hart, Roger Barnett, and Gary Westermeyer. Nay: none Motion carried.
