REGIONAL OFFICE OF EDUCATION RECEIVES

READING FIRST PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MONEY

Bluffs school is the only Reading First School in ROE #46.  Therefore our teachers who are certified to teach K-3 (Reading First is an early literacy grant) were able to apply to attend.  Ten will be attending the Department of Education’s National Reading Institute in Anaheim, California in July this summer.  Teachers will attend sessions from 8:30-4:30 daily.  This opportunity was made available to teachers through the Regional Office of Education.  Scott-Morgan CUSD #2 does not fund any portion of this training.

Reading First Summer Academy :

Bluffs School will offer intense reading and response to literature learning opportunities to its neediest students during the summer months.  Students in Pre-K-3 who are identified as strategic or intensive will attend 6 weeks (3 days per week: T,W, Th) during the summer months. These will be held on June 8,9,10, 15, 16, & 17; June 29, 30, July 1, 6, 7, & 8; July 27,28,29, and August 3, 4, & 5.  Five teachers will be hired to instruct.  Students will attend from 8:30 – 11:30. Letters providing more details will be sent home with qualifying students soon.
